On February 14, 2026, a police patrolling party from PP GMC Jammu, led by PSI Hardev Singh, apprehended a person suspected of carrying narcotics in the Resham Ghar Colony area near the Super Specialty Hospital.
The accused, identified as Sonu Kumar S/o Darshan Lal, R/o Mazdoor Basti Bakshi Nagar Jammu, was found in possession of a heroin-like substance. A transparent polythene containing the substance was recovered from his trouser pocket.
An FIR No. 17/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, and further investigation has been entrusted to PSI Kamini of PS Bakshi Nagar.
To dismantle the ecosystem, a joint team of PS Bakshi Nagar led by SHO Insp Arun Prakash Sharma and ICPP GMC PSI Ravinder Singh is working to dugout the backward and forward links along with financial investigation under the supervision of SDPO City West Jammu & SP City North.
The Jammu Police remain committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens especially the young generation which is getting spoiled by the drug mafia operating in the area and playing in the hands of hostile neighbour.
The public of Jammu is requested to share information with police about the drug peddling activities in their area. Their identity will be kept secret.
