Kishtwar, August 27 /2026 Dr. Jahanzaib Sirwal has written to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, urging his immediate personal intervention in the deeply disturbing case of the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl at Gurinal, Chatroo, in District Kishtwar.
Dr. Sirwal has sought that the investigation be handed over to the Crime Branch to ensure a transparent, independent and impartial probe into every aspect of the case. He said that given the gravity and sensitivity of the allegations, the investigation must inspire confidence among the victim’s family and the wider public.
He further urged the administration to ensure that no individual involved, directly or indirectly, is allowed to escape accountability, and that the victim’s family is provided all necessary support, protection and assistance throughout the investigation and judicial proceedings.
“The people of Kishtwar have faith in the administration and the justice system. At this difficult moment, a decisive intervention by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor would go a long way in restoring the confidence of the victim’s family and the public,” Dr. Sirwal said.
Dr. Sirwal expressed hope that the matter would receive immediate and personal attention from the Lieutenant Governor and emphasised that justice for the minor victim must remain the foremost priority.
