Doda, May 16: Continuing its sustained drive against the illegal liquor trade, Doda Police apprehended two persons allegedly involved in the sale and purchase of illicit liquor in the Thathri area of District Doda.
According to police, acting on reliable information, Police Station Thathri received specific inputs that two individuals — Krishan Kumar, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Bhalara Tehsil Chiralla, and Suman Kumar, son of Shadi Lal, resident of Neota Tehsil Bhalla District Doda — were engaged in illegal liquor trade and were carrying a consignment for selling purposes.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by the SHO Thathri intercepted the accused persons and recovered a total of 68 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. The seized consignment included 10 bottles of 750 ml, 9 bottles of 180 ml, 20 bottles of 250 ml, and 29 additional bottles of 180 ml capacity.
In this connection, FIR No. 44/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Thathri and further investigation is underway.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment towards curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the district. Police have also appealed to the public to share information regarding drug peddling, illicit liquor trade and other unlawful activities.
