Doda, April 17, 2026:
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Doda Police has booked a notorious drug peddler under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, reinforcing its intensified campaign against the narcotics menace in the district.
The accused, Mehraj Din, son of Abdul Latief and a resident of Masjid Mohalla, Tehsil Bhaderwah, has a long history of involvement in drug-related offences. Police records reveal his repeated engagement in illicit narcotics trade, with multiple cases registered against him over the years.
His criminal antecedents include:

Given his continued involvement in narcotics activities, a detailed dossier was prepared by the Station House Officer of Police Station Bhaderwah. Acting on this dossier, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, issued detention Order No. PITNDPS 09 of 2026 dated March 6, 2026, under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Following the execution of the detention order, the accused was taken into custody and on April 17, 2026, was lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
Doda Police reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and emphasized that stringent measures, including preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, will continue to be used against habitual offenders to safeguard society from the growing drug menace.
