Doda, December 29: In view of heightened security arrangements ahead of New Year (December 31) and Republic Day (January 26), Doda Police arrested one person and recovered 110 grams of charas during a naka checking operation near the Ganpat area of Doda district.
As per official details, acting on the directions of SSP Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, naka checking points were established at various strategic locations across the district to maintain law and order and curb illegal activities. As part of this special drive, three naka points were set up near Ganpat.
During the operation, a police party led by SI Mushtaq Hussain, along with his team, intercepted a suspicious individual traveling from Thatri towards Doda. Upon frisking, the person was identified as Shokat Ali, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Chirala, Doda.
During the search, 110 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. The contraband substance was seized on the spot following all prescribed legal procedures.
Accordingly, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the involvement of the accused in any previous criminal or narcotics-related activities.
SHO Doda, Shri Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, reiterated that Doda Police remains fully committed to maintaining peace and public order in the district. He emphasized that zero tolerance will be adopted against drug peddlers and warned that anyone found involved in the sale, possession, or consumption of narcotics will be dealt with strictly as per law.
He also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, stating that drug abuse destroys families, damages society, and ruins the future of the younger generation.
