District Magistrate Kishtwar Issues Prohibitory Orders Around Rattle Hydroelectric Power Project

Kishtwar Feb 4, 2016: In a bid to maintain law and order and ensure uninterrupted execution of the Rattle Hydroelectric Power Project, the District Magistrate Kishtwar has issued prohibitory orders in and around the project area.

According to the official order, restrictions have been imposed on the assembly of people and related activities within the notified vicinity of the project site. The step has been taken as a preventive measure in view of apprehensions of disturbances that could hamper construction work and affect public tranquility. The District Magistrate has directed strict enforcement of the order, authorising executive magistrates and police authorities to act against any violations under relevant legal provisions 

Officials said the prohibitory measures are aimed at safeguarding vital infrastructure, ensuring the safety of manpower and machinery deployed at the site, and facilitating smooth progress of the strategically important hydroelectric project. The administration has also warned that any unlawful gathering or attempt to obstruct project activities will invite strict action.

The Rattle Hydroelectric Power Project is among the key power projects in Chenab Valley, and the district administration has reiterated its commitment to providing a secure environment for its timely completion. Residents of the area have been urged to cooperate with authorities and comply with the restrictions in the larger public interest.
