Director FCS&CA Jammu Reviews Department Functioning, Stresses Consumer Protection Measures

Jammu, April 15: Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Jammu, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), today chaired a review meeting with all Assistant Directors, Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs), and Area Inspectors of the Jammu Division to assess the functioning of the department, with a special focus on consumer affairs.

During the meeting, the Director reviewed the availability and supply position of essential commodities, including kerosene oil, LPG, and petrol/diesel, and directed officers to ensure uninterrupted supply across all districts.

Emphasizing strict market regulation, he instructed all Assistant Directors and TSOs to conduct daily inspections of wholesale and retail markets, fair price shops, godowns, and other establishments dealing with essential commodities. He also directed that all business units must prominently display updated price lists to maintain transparency.

The Director issued clear instructions for initiating strict action against violators and maintaining a close watch on daily price fluctuations of essential items such as wheat flour, rice, pulses, edible oils, sugar, LPG, kerosene, salt, onions, potatoes, and other notified commodities.

He underscored that no complaints regarding overcharging, hoarding, or profiteering should arise from any part of their respective jurisdictions, warning of accountability in case of lapses.

Further, he stressed the importance of discipline within the enforcement wing, directing all Assistant Directors and TSOs to wear proper uniform during office hours to reinforce accountability and professionalism.
