The protest has been called by groups including the All India Students’ Association (AISA), AAP, NSUI and Indian Youth Congress, with organisers raising allegations concerning electoral rolls and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Delhi Police has denied permission for the proposed gathering and imposed restrictions on assemblies in the New Delhi district.

Security personnel and barricades have been deployed around Jantar Mantar and other sensitive areas as authorities prepare for the protest.
