New Delhi, September 26: The Delhi government will launch a strict enforcement drive to check the validity of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates from October 1, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday.
Gupta made the announcement while inaugurating a Vehicle Automatic Testing Station (ATS) in Burari, stating that the government was taking several measures to curb vehicular pollution and improve air quality in the national capital.
The Chief Minister said the enforcement drive would focus on ensuring that vehicles operating in Delhi carry valid PUC certificates. She emphasised that the initiative is part of the government’s year-round efforts to reduce air pollution and ensure cleaner air for residents.
The October 1 enforcement is also linked to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directions for Delhi-NCR, under which vehicles without valid PUCCs will face restrictions on receiving fuel at petrol pumps. The measure is aimed at reducing vehicular emissions that contribute to air pollution.
The Delhi government’s move comes ahead of the implementation of stricter pollution-control measures across the National Capital Region, with authorities urging vehicle owners to ensure that their PUC certificates are valid before the deadline.
