DC Ramban Reviews Rural Development Plan, Sets Focus on Need-Based and Sustainable Growth for 2026–27

DC Ramban stresses grassroots planning, infrastructure development, and timely execution of schemes during review of Rural Development Department

Ramban, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the functioning of the Rural Development Department and discuss the formulation of the developmental plan for the financial year 2026–27, with a focus on sustainable and need-based development in rural areas.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Sheraz Ahmed, Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, Block Development Officers of all eleven blocks, and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the proposed developmental framework and directed Block Development Officers to prepare plans in consultation with all stakeholders, ensuring priority to basic infrastructure and area-specific needs. He stressed adopting a grassroots-oriented approach to ensure balanced and equitable rural development.

Highlighting key priorities, the DC instructed officers to focus on development of playfields, restoration and preservation of water bodies, strengthening of educational infrastructure, and execution of projects based on local requirements. He emphasized that planning should be practical, inclusive, and aligned with public aspirations.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the physical and financial progress under the District Capex Budget 2025–26 and took stock of various Centrally Sponsored and flagship schemes being implemented in the district. He directed officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing works with transparency and quality.

Assistant Commissioner Development Sheraz Ahmed briefed the chair on achievements made during the previous financial year under different schemes.

Earlier, the Chief Planning Officer guided Block Development Officers on preparation of the developmental plan, urging them to ensure realistic projections, proper planning, and efficient utilization of resources.
