Kishtwar, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma on Monday chaired a meeting to review the progress and functioning of the Jal Shakti Department and the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the overall progress achieved under the scheme and directed that all 39 completed JJM works be certified without delay after ensuring proper verification and fulfillment of all procedural requirements.
He further directed the department to complete all pending works in a time-bound manner while maintaining quality standards, so that safe and adequate drinking water supply reaches every household in the district.
The DC instructed officials to issue notices to contractors who are lagging behind or failing to comply with prescribed specifications, stressing accountability in execution.
He also directed the department to prepare an inventory of pipes and construction materials at each site to ensure better management, safety, and efficiency during implementation.
Regarding site-specific issues, the Deputy Commissioner directed that the gravity dispute at Bathdaat Saroor area be resolved on priority. He instructed that the Jal Shakti Department and Police conduct a joint site visit to assess the situation and determine corrective measures to avoid further delays.
He further emphasized the completion of all pending Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) works to achieve full saturation under JJM in the district.
The meeting was attended by ACD Manoj Kumar, ACP Neeraj Sharma, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Rohit Wadera, Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, and other concerned officials.
