Cultural Academy organises literary programme in Doru to promote heritage awareness among youth

ANANTNAG, MAY 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages) organised a literary and cultural programme at Village Zaldura, Doru in Anantnag district, aimed at connecting the younger generation with their cultural heritage, language and traditions.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, young writers and members of the local community. Participants showcased poetry recitations and literary presentations, highlighting their interest in Punjabi language and literature.

The performances were widely appreciated and reflected growing awareness among youth towards preserving their mother tongue and cultural identity.

Speaking on the occasion, Popinder Singh Paras, Chief Editor of Punjabi Sheeraza, emphasised the importance of preserving language and culture in the modern era. He said that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the bond between youth and their heritage while nurturing pride in traditional values.

He further noted that in an age of globalization and technological change, preserving linguistic and cultural identity has become even more important. He said heritage represents collective strength and must be passed on to future generations.

Community elders and local participants also shared their experiences, stressing the importance of safeguarding traditional values, indigenous literature and cultural practices.

Prominent local personalities and social workers appreciated the efforts of the Academy and urged for more such programmes in rural areas to strengthen cultural awareness at the grassroots level.

The programme concluded with a collective resolve to continue promoting literature, language and cultural awareness among youth, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to preserving the rich cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.
