Focus on universal coverage financial sustainability and improved healthcare

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired the Governing Council meeting of the State Health Agency in Srinagar to review the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and PM-JAY SEHAT schemes in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting included senior officials from the Finance, Health, Planning, IT departments, SKIMS and GMCs of Srinagar and Jammu. CEO State Health Agency Ananth Dwivedi presented a detailed report on scheme performance, financial status and future implementation strategy.

The Chief Secretary noted that J&K has emerged as a leading region in providing universal healthcare coverage under the PM-JAY SEHAT scheme, enabling lakhs of beneficiaries to access cashless treatment in government and empanelled private hospitals.

He emphasized transparency, timely claim settlement, stronger monitoring systems and continued strengthening of public healthcare institutions to ensure better service delivery.

The presentation revealed that over 4.08 lakh pre-authorizations worth around ₹775 crore were approved during the current policy period, with public hospitals accounting for more than ₹515 crore, highlighting their growing role in healthcare delivery.

The meeting also discussed future reforms, including financial restructuring, optimization of package rates, and evaluation of Trust vs Insurance models to ensure long-term sustainability of the scheme.
