The meeting was jointly chaired by Tariq Hameed Karra, President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, and Ghulam Ahmad Mir, AICC General Secretary and CLP Leader. The leadership expressed serious concern over what they described as the “undemocratic arrest” of the Youth Congress chief, asserting that peaceful protest is a fundamental constitutional right in a democracy.

Addressing the gathering, the senior leaders stressed the need to safeguard the political, economic, and social interests of the people of Jammu & Kashmir while closely examining the broader implications of international trade agreements, particularly the proposed India–USA Trade Deal. They cautioned that such agreements must be evaluated transparently to ensure they do not adversely impact local livelihoods, employment, and regional economic stability.

The leadership unanimously condemned the arrest of the Youth Congress National President, stating that curbing dissent and targeting opposition voices weakens democratic institutions. They reaffirmed the party’s commitment to protecting constitutional rights and standing firmly with those who raise their voice through peaceful and democratic means.

Prominent leaders present at the meeting included former PCC President and MLA Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Working President Raman Bhalla, Choudhary Lal Singh, Mula Ram, Taj Mohiuddin, G. M. Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Abdul Majid Wani, MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Subash Gupta, Krishan Lal Bhagat, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, District Presidents Yogesh Sawhney, Neeraj Kundan, Choudhary Shahnawaz, and several other senior functionaries.
