A fresh political row has erupted between the BJP and Congress after the ruling party launched a poster campaign targeting Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, questioning his frequent foreign visits and whereabouts.

The BJP shared altered movie-style posters with captions such as “Laapata Rahul,” “Go Rahul Gone,” and “Tourist Zinda Hain,” while also using phrases like “Swades vs Pardesh” to mock his international travel. The campaign was led by several state units of the party, which further questioned the funding and frequency of Gandhi’s overseas trips.

BJP leaders also raised concerns over what they described as “innumerable foreign tours,” alleging lack of transparency regarding expenses. Some party spokespersons claimed that Gandhi has undertaken over 50 international visits and demanded clarity on the financial sources behind them.

In response, the Congress rejected the criticism, calling Rahul Gandhi a “global leader” who receives multiple invitations from international organisations and countries. Party leaders said his foreign visits are limited and often driven by official engagements and invitations.

Congress leaders also pointed out that global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have undertaken foreign trips, arguing that international travel is a routine part of political engagement in a globalised world.

The exchange has further intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress ahead of upcoming political developments.
