Kishtwar/Srinagar, July 17: Ahead of the proposed protest and gherao of the Civil Secretariat on July 20, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a key organisational meeting in Srinagar to chalk out its strategy and ensure the effective execution of the proposed programme.
Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma and BJP J&K UT President and MP Sat Sharma addressed a meeting of State Office Bearers, District Presidents and Morcha Office Bearers at Srinagar.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the forthcoming programmes, organisational initiatives and strategic measures to ensure their effective planning and successful execution.

The proposed BJP protest is aimed at highlighting what the party describes as the failures of the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir Government on various issues concerning governance, development and public welfare. The BJP has announced plans to mobilise its workers and leaders for the protest and proposed gherao of the Civil Secretariat Srinagar on July 20.
The programme has assumed added political significance as the Omar Abdullah-led government has also called for a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on the same day. The BJP is expected to use the occasion to question the government’s performance in Jammu and Kashmir and raise issues related to its alleged failure to fulfil commitments made to the people.
The BJP leadership discussed organisational preparedness, mobilisation of party workers and coordination among different organisational units ahead of the proposed protest.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination among the party’s state-level leadership, district units and various Morchas to ensure strong and organised participation in the July 20 programme.
The BJP has been intensifying its organisational activities in Jammu and Kashmir, with its leadership focusing on coordinated programmes and strategic mobilisation on issues of public and political importance.
