The Social Welfare Department organized an Awareness-cum-Interaction Programme for senior citizens at Bhaderwah under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner Doda and the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah and District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Doda.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens across the region, with a focus on spreading awareness about various welfare schemes and initiatives launched by the department for their benefit.
At the outset, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO) Bhaderwah, Shahnawaz Ahmad, welcomed the participants and underscored the significance of such interactive platforms. He elaborated on key welfare schemes for senior citizens, including financial assistance, healthcare support, and social security measures. He urged attendees to take full advantage of these schemes and to help raise awareness among others.
During his address, he highlighted the invaluable role of senior citizens in nation-building, stating that their experience, wisdom, and guidance remain vital for societal progress. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring dignity, care, and social inclusion for the elderly.
The programme concluded on a warm note with the distribution of shawls and hot water bottles among the participating senior citizens as a token of respect and gratitude for their lifelong contributions.
Participants appreciated the initiative of the Social Welfare Department and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing efforts for their welfare.
