Jammu, Feb 12, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday ordered the posting of Athar Amin Zargar, JKAS, as Additional Secretary to the Government, Home Department, with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 194-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated 12.02.2026, issued by the General Administration Department (Services), Civil Secretariat, Jammu, Zargar, who was awaiting orders of adjustment in the GAD, has been posted in the Home Department in the interest of administration. The order was issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government M. Raju, IAS, by order of the Lieutenant Governor.
Athar Amin Zargar is a senior JKAS officer who has held several important administrative assignments in the Union Territory. He has served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Thathri in Doda district, where he handled law and order, disaster management and developmental coordination at the subdivision level.
Earlier, he also served as Assistant Director (AD) Food, Kishtwar, in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, overseeing implementation of food distribution schemes and consumer protection measures.
Zargar has also served as Block Development Officer (BDO) Kahara, where he supervised rural development schemes including MGNREGA and other centrally sponsored programmes. In addition, he has held assignments in the Industries and Commerce Department and other administrative capacities during his service career.
With his posting as Additional Secretary in the Home Department, Zargar will now be part of the administrative setup dealing with key matters relating to internal security, law and order and overall governance in the Union Territory.
