KISHTWAR June 13, 2026: In a significant action against drug-related offences, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar Tasleem Wani (JKAS) has disqualified three driving licences and suspended the registration of one vehicle linked to accused persons involved in NDPS cases, reaffirming the administration’s resolve to combat the drug menace in the district.

The action was taken under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS) and on the recommendations of SHO Police Station Kishtwar Firdous Ahmed, Incharge Police Post Drabshalla PSI Saurabh Sharma, and SHO Police Station Kokernag.
The proceedings stem from FIR No. 116/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kishtwar, FIR No. 131/2026 under Sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kishtwar/Police Post Drabshalla, and FIR No. 39/2026 under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kokernag.
Accordingly, the driving licences of Ramiz Raja, son of Late Abdul Qayoom, resident of Matta Sarkoot, Kishtwar; Sameer Hussain, son of Ajaz Hussain, resident of Khori, Kishtwar; and Umer Yousuf Mahroo, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Inshan, Warwan, have been disqualified.
Besides, the registration of vehicle JK17-2770, owned by Nobia Nazir, wife of Ramiz Raja, has also been suspended.
The action reflects close coordination between the Transport Department and District Police in targeting individuals allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities. The District Administration has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, warning that stringent legal and administrative measures will continue against offenders.
