Says Party’s Policies and Public Support Will Ensure Long-Term Governance in India

Amit Shah Confident BJP Will Rule at Centre for Next 30 Years, Reaffirms Commitment to UCC

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will remain in power at the Centre for at least 30 years, attributing it to the party’s consistent performance and public trust.

Speaking at the Times Now Summit 2025 on Friday night, Shah emphasized that in a democracy, victory depends on hard work and dedication to the nation.

“When I was the BJP national president, I had said the party will remain in power for the next 30 years. Only 10 years have passed,” he stated.

BJP’s Commitment to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)

Discussing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Shah reiterated that all BJP-ruled states will gradually implement it, as it has been a core agenda of the party since its inception.

“The Constituent Assembly had envisioned UCC. Congress may have forgotten, but we haven’t. We said we would abrogate Article 370—we did it. We promised the Ram Temple—it stands today. Now, UCC remains, and we will fulfill it too,” Shah asserted.

He cited Uttarakhand as the first BJP-ruled state to enact the UCC and confirmed that Gujarat has already formed a committee for its implementation.

Internal Security and Terrorism Crackdown

Shah highlighted the government’s achievements in curbing Naxal violence, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, and insurgency in the Northeast.

“In the last 10 years, 16,000 militants and extremists have surrendered. Our priority is to bring peace and development to these regions,” he said.

Cash Discovery at High Court Judge’s Residence

Commenting on the alleged cash recovery from Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma’s residence, Shah said the Chief Justice of India has taken cognizance of the matter and ordered an inquiry by a three-judge panel.

“We are fully cooperating. Let’s wait for the committee’s findings,” he added.

RSS and Modi Government

Responding to whether the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) interferes in government affairs, Shah dismissed the claims.

“The RSS has been preparing patriots for 100 years. I have learned from the Sangh how to uphold nationalism while balancing multiple responsibilities. There is no question of interference,” he said.

Government’s Stand on Places of Worship Act, 1991

On the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, which is currently under Supreme Court review, Shah refrained from commenting but assured that the government will abide by the court’s decision.

“We will file an affidavit at the right time,” he said.

The Act, which prevents the conversion of religious places to maintain their status as of August 15, 1947, is being challenged in court.

Shah’s remarks reinforce the BJP’s long-term political vision, focus on governance, national security, and commitment to key legislative reforms.
