ammu, June 30: Ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026), the Jammu Traffic Police have announced strict traffic restrictions and route diversions in the city starting July 2, a day before the annual pilgrimage begins.
According to officials, the first convoy will depart from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar on July 2, with Baltal route convoy at 4:00 AM and Pahalgam route convoy at 4:15 AM.
Traffic movement will remain completely suspended on key city routes from 3:45 AM until the tail of the Pahalgam convoy passes, covering major areas including Gandhi Nagar, Bikram Chowk, Panama Chowk, Jammu University, Rehari, Amphalla, Janipur and others.
The advisory also includes cut-off points on National Highway-44 (NH-44) at Nagwal/Palli Morh, Kunjwani Chowk, Bajalta Cut, Sidhra Cut, Atal Chowk and TCP Nagrota. No vehicles will be allowed beyond these points after 10:00 PM for heavy vehicles and 12:00 AM for light motor vehicles during the yatra period.
Officials have urged commuters to plan travel in advance and cooperate with traffic arrangements to ensure smooth movement of pilgrim convoys.
The SANJY-2026 pilgrimage will continue for 57 days and conclude on August 28. Authorities also confirmed that both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes have been declared no-fly zones, resulting in the suspension of helicopter services for pilgrims this year.
