Srinagar, October 3: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has intensified his allegations over the controversial hotel project at Saedpora Harwan, promising to release documentary evidence to support his claims about the people allegedly connected to the project.
Bukhari claimed that a Mumbai-based businessman had acquired land for a multi-storey hotel and alleged violations of existing laws and procedures. He further maintained that the contractor associated with the project has links with senior National Conference figures.
The allegations have been rejected by National Conference representatives. Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami, said the government had neither allotted land nor granted permission for the hotel and alleged that the person at the centre of the controversy was associated with Bukhari’s own Apni Party.
Bukhari, however, disputed the claim and said there were two individuals with the same name in the area. He said the person associated with his party was not connected to the Mumbai-based businessman and vowed to release documentary proof to establish his version of events.
The dispute has now become a fresh political flashpoint in Jammu and Kashmir, with both sides trading allegations over land transactions, construction permissions and political connections.
