Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has presented a charge-sheet in FIR No. 10/2023, registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar, against public servant Abdul Rashid Mir, the then Patwari Halqa Arigam, Budgam, in a bribery case before the Hon’ble Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court, Srinagar.
An official said the FIR was registered on June 13, 2023, following a written complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹3,000 for providing a report concerning a fire incident that had damaged the complainant’s residential house.
A trap was laid, and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹1,500 as part of the bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered on the spot, and subsequent chemical tests confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on the accused’s hands.
Based on the facts and circumstances, together with cogent evidence brought on record, the investigation established the commission of offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against accused public servant Abdul Rashid Mir, the then Halqa Patwari Arigam, Budgam, an official said.
He added that after obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the government, the charge-sheet was presented before the Hon’ble Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge, Srinagar, on September 3, 2025, for judicial determination.
The next date of hearing has been fixed for October 20, 2025, the official added. (Agencies)
