SRINAGAR, July 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has made Aadhaar authentication mandatory for individuals registering on the Drug De-addiction Registry Portal (DDRP), aiming to improve transparency, prevent misuse of de-addiction services, and strengthen monitoring across the Union Territory.
According to a notification issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, beneficiaries seeking treatment under the DDRP must authenticate their identity using Aadhaar or provide proof of possessing an Aadhaar number. The portal, managed by the State Drug Controller Office under the Narcotics Coordination Centre (NCORD), maintains records of patients undergoing treatment and regulates the distribution of psychotropic medicines prescribed during de-addiction programmes.
The DDRP facilitates treatment, counselling, rehabilitation, and the supply of prescribed medicines. Officials said mandatory Aadhaar verification will help eliminate duplicate registrations, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure that government-supported treatment and medicines reach only genuine beneficiaries.
The notification also assures that individuals who do not yet have an Aadhaar number will not be denied treatment. Such beneficiaries can continue to access de-addiction services while completing the Aadhaar enrolment process.
The Government said the measure is aimed at enhancing accountability, improving the efficiency of de-addiction programmes, and ensuring better delivery of healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.(Agencies)
