Kishtwar, June 25: The District Magistrate of Kishtwar has granted permission for the scheduled silt flushing operation at the Dulhasti Hydroelectric Power Station dam reservoir in Kishtwar district.
According to an official order issued by DM Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the permission was given after a request from the Group General Manager (Dam), Dulhasti Power Station. The flushing operation is scheduled from 11:00 PM on June 27, 2026, to 8:00 PM on June 28, 2026, during which the dam gates will remain open.
Authorities have warned that the controlled release of water may cause the River Chenab to rise by around 2 to 3 metres. In view of the risk, the administration has strictly prohibited movement of people, vehicles, and livestock along the riverbanks during the operation period.
Residents living near the Chenab and those frequenting river areas have been advised to stay alert and avoid approaching the water.
The administration has also directed officials in Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, and Reasi districts to implement precautionary measures and ensure wide publicity of the advisory so that the public remains informed.
Officials have clarified that any violation of the warning will be at individuals’ own risk, and the dam management will not be responsible for any consequences arising from non-compliance.
Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate fully and follow all safety instructions during the operation.
