Kishtwar/Doda June 05, 2026: Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police apprehended an alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 317 grams of charas during a special naka checking operation at Khellani in Doda district.
The operation was carried out as part of enhanced security arrangements put in place in view of a VVIP visit and the district police’s sustained campaign against narcotics.
According to police, a special naka was established at Khellani by a team from Police Post Khellani led by the Incharge Police Post Khellani under the supervision of the SHO Police Station Doda and DySP Headquarters Doda. During checking, the team intercepted a suspicious individual and subjected him to a search.
During the search, police recovered approximately 317 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Mothi, Goha, Doda.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 148/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation has been initiated to trace the source of the contraband, identify the supply chain, and ascertain its intended destination.
Police officials stated that the action is part of the sustained efforts being undertaken by Doda Police to curb drug trafficking and protect society, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of narcotic substances.
Doda Police has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and appealed to the public to actively cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug peddling and other illegal activities.
