Jammu, May 18: The Court of Sub Judge/Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu, Sandeep Singh Sen (KCS Judicial), on Monday issued notice to a social media journalist Sulinder Parihar Sarazi in a criminal defamation complaint filed by a serving police officer Firdoos Ahmed presently posted as Station House Officer (SHO) at Kishtwar, alleging that defamatory videos were published falsely linking him with persons involved in “nasha” activities.
The complaint was filed through Advocate M. A. Dar & Associates, who argued the matter and alleged that the accused through social media-based video reports, made false, reckless and defamatory allegations against the SHO with an intention to malign his image and lower his reputation in the eyes of the public.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly uploaded videos on 08 May 2026, wherein the SHO was allegedly portrayed as a police officer who assists, supports and protects persons involved in the sale and spread of “nasha”, besides making allegations of corruption and misconduct.
The complainant submitted before the Court that the accusations are entirely false, baseless and malicious, asserting that he was merely discharging official duties in compliance with directions issued by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh relating to maintenance of law and order and police protection at a liquor vend site.
As per the complaint, the accused allegedly aired videos suggesting that while police advocate for a “Nasha Mukt Bharat”, the complainant was allegedly standing with those involved in the “nasha” menace and protecting them — allegations which the complainant has termed defamatory and intended to tarnish his public and professional image.
The complaint further states that the impugned videos were widely circulated on social media and viewed by a large number of people, causing reputational harm, humiliation and adverse public reactions against the officer.
It was further pleaded that the complainant, a serving police officer, has received various commendations and appreciation certificates from superior authorities in recognition of his public service, dedication and maintenance of law and order.
After hearing arguments on 18.05.2026, the Court of Sub Judge/Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu, Sundeep Sen, issued notice to the accused and directed his appearance before the Court on 17 July 2026.
