Padder, May 13: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS) and under the overall supervision of District Child Protection Officer Kishtwar Sh.Tariq Parveaz Qazi (JKAS), a mega awareness programme in Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School Atholi Padder, on Corporal punishment at with the aim of sensitizing students, teachers and staff about child rights and the harmful effects of corporal punishment besides also sensitised on Bal Vivah Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and 100 days Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.

The programme highlighted the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and child-friendly environment in educational institutions.
Sh.Touseef Iqbal Butt (Protection Officer-NIC) DCPU Kishtwar,elaborated on various provisions related to child protection, emphasizing that corporal punishment negatively impacts the physical and mental well-being of children.
During the peogramme, students were educated about their rights, positive discipline practices, and the importance of reporting any form of abuse or violence on Child Helpline 1098.
He also encouraged teachers and school authorities to adopt constructive and non-violent methods of discipline to ensure holistic development of children.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and school administration.
Sh.Vickey Sharma Project Coordinator CHL Kishtwar also spoke on the occasion about the role of Child Helpline and child protection.
In the end, Principal BVM Atholi Padder Sh.Omparkash appreciated the initiative undertaken by DCPU and Child helpline 1098 for spreading awareness on child protection and welfare.
