Inspection of granaries dumping sites ensures smooth Yatra arrangements

Commissioner Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Saurabh Bhagat conducted an extensive tour of Anantnag to review development works and preparedness for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026.

He inspected key storage and logistics facilities including Chandanwari and Pahalgam granaries, which serve as major dumping and supply points for foodgrains and essential commodities for Yatra operations. He also reviewed stock positions, quality control measures, fire safety systems, and security arrangements.

Emphasizing timely preparedness, he directed officials to ensure 100% stocking of required foodgrains and petroleum products well before the Yatra begins, along with strict adherence to quality standards and buffer stock maintenance.

He stressed coordination between field staff and district administration for uninterrupted supply chain management for pilgrims and local residents. During the visit, he also inspected sale outlets in Pahalgam and reviewed departmental functioning.

Bhagat further directed identification of land for setting up a research and training institute aimed at improving skills in supply chain management, PDS operations, quality control, and grievance redressal systems.
