NMBA outreach programmes continue across Pulwama with massive public participation

Sports events, awareness drives and outreach programmes organised across Pulwama to promote drug-free and healthy lifestyle among youth.

A series of awareness, outreach and sports activities were organised across Pulwama district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan as part of the 100-day campaign aimed at promoting a drug-free society and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices among youth.

The programmes were conducted by multiple departments across different zones of the district with enthusiastic participation from students, youth and local residents.

Department of Youth Services and Sports Pulwama organised several sports competitions, awareness lectures and pledge ceremonies across educational institutions to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

In Zone Pulwama, softball competitions were held at BHSS Pulwama while Kabaddi competitions were organised at HSS Hawl. Awareness lectures were also conducted at HSS Karimabad, HSS Hawl, GMS Pulwama and UPS Chewakalan.

In Zone Tahab, volleyball and chess competitions took place at GMS Batpora and UPS Karewa, while guest lectures were organised at HS Naina and UPS Ladermar.

Similarly, Zone Pampore witnessed zonal-level badminton and chess tournaments at GHSS Pampore, while BHSS Ladhoo organised awareness skits and lectures under the campaign.

In Zone Tral, U-17 boys’ volleyball competitions were conducted at Sports Stadium Bajwani and badminton events at Indoor Stadium Bajwani along with anti-drug awareness activities.

Chess and carrom competitions were also organised at HSS Rajpora, while a zonal-level Kho-Kho competition took place at GMS Lurgam.

Participants across all programmes took anti-drug pledges and committed themselves towards building a healthy, prosperous and drug-free society.

Meanwhile, Drug Control Department Pulwama carried out inspections of medical shops in Wanpora, Parigam, Newa and Pulwama town to ensure compliance with drug regulations.

A multi-sectoral awareness programme was also organised at Panchayat Ghar Ladhoo in Pampore, where officers from civil administration and police departments interacted with the public and highlighted the importance of combating drug abuse.

The event featured awareness sessions, cultural performances, nukkad natak and songs aimed at sensitising people about the dangers of substance abuse and promoting community responsibility.

Similar awareness programmes were conducted at Tral-i-Payeen and Bamnoo Ichegoza, where officials from various departments interacted with youth, students and local residents and highlighted the ill effects of drug addiction.

The Education Department also organised special guest lectures across educational institutions in the district to educate students about the harmful consequences of substance abuse.

Officials said the district administration continues to involve all sections of society in the anti-drug campaign to strengthen awareness and community participation in eradicating the menace of drug abuse.
