Yemen’s Foreign Ministry has warned against what it called “adventurism and barbarism” by the Trump administration in the Persian Gulf, stating that Sana’a supports Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said US and Israeli actions against Iran, along with what it described as US “piracy” in the Sea of Oman, have imposed a heavy cost on the global economy. It cited disruptions to supply chains, maritime transport, rising shipping costs, and increases in energy and food prices.
The ministry strongly condemned US actions in the Sea of Oman, including alleged attacks on Iranian commercial vessels and the detention of their crews, calling them a clear violation of international law and freedom of navigation.
It further described Iran’s measures in the Strait of Hormuz as lawful, citing the right to self-defence and the authority of states to regulate navigation within their territorial waters in response to security threats. (Agency)
