J&K govt examines proposal to hike honorarium for MLAs’ personal assistants

Finance Department says proposal from Law Department is under review, no timeline announced yet

Jammu, Feb 10: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said that a proposal to enhance the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants (PAs) engaged with MLAs is currently under examination.

The information was shared by the Finance Department in a written reply to a question raised by Congress leader and MLA Tariq Hameed Karra in the Assembly.

Karra had sought to know whether PAs working with MLAs had demanded an increase in their monthly honorarium along with additional entitlements such as TA/DA, at par with staff of other parliamentarians, and if so, the details and timeline for consideration of the demand.

In its response, the department said, “A proposal has been received from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department regarding enhancement of monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants engaged with Hon’ble MLAs. The proposal is under examination in the Finance Department.” (Agencies)
