The Élysee Palace said French President Emmanuel Macron will “continue coordination between Europeans and the United States with the aim of achieving a just and lasting peace that safeguards Ukraine’s vital interests and Europe’s security.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s office said he will discuss the status of ongoing peace efforts in Ukraine with other attendees and underline Germany’s interest in reaching a rapid peace agreement.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer praised Zelenskyy’s “desire for a just and lasting peace” and confirmed that he too would travel to Washington for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Trump’s top envoy Steve Witkoff told Media that Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly agreed to allow US security guarantees for Ukraine and offered concessions on “land swaps” as part of a possible peace deal during his recent summit with Trump. Russia, however, has not confirmed such agreements, which appear to contradict Putin’s earlier statements.

The White House meeting will be split into two sessions, sources familiar with the planning told. Trump and Zelenskyy are expected to hold individual meetings with their delegations first, followed by a larger joint session and possibly a working lunch with the visiting European leaders.

Talks are likely to focus on Russia’s demands regarding land concessions and the framework of security guarantees for Ukraine, including the role of the United States.

Witkoff also said Trump is close to arranging a three-way meeting with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine. (Agencies)
