Budgam Police have registered an FIR following an incident of mischief in Ichgam involving miscreants, with efforts ongoing to identify those responsible, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the spokesperson added that Budgam Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and the FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the law.
Those involved in the incident are being identified, and legal action is being taken against them, the statement said.
A police team was present at the site, and all evidence is being analysed. The evidence will be incorporated as part of the investigation to ensure a fair and impartial process, it added.
The statement further warned that some elements are attempting to create a sectarian divide and spread misinformation and fake news on social media; such activities will be dealt with strictly under the law.
Budgam Police also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate in maintaining peace and order in the area. (Agencies)
