As part of the celebrations, students tied rakhis to BSF personnel stationed at the border. They said soldiers constantly guard the nation against adversaries, often staying away from their families, and society comes forward during such occasions to celebrate with them.

A BSF soldier expressed, “People come to the BSF from across India, and many cannot visit their homes. When these children come to tie rakhis, it brings great joy. In Operation Sindoor, we fought bravely, showing the country our courage and victory over the enemy. It feels great to know the whole nation stands with us.”

Earlier in the day, eleven women from the Soan Chiraiya and Gulabo Mata Self-Help Groups in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, handed over a packet of rakhis to Colonel Vinod Kumar to be delivered to soldiers at various borders through India Post. These women, working under the Deendayal Ajeevika Yojana (Urban), earn their livelihood through various organisations.

Colonel Vinod Kumar assured them that all the rakhis would be delivered safely, helping soldiers feel emotionally strengthened.

In a similar gesture, 53,000 women from Gujarat’s Anganwadis prepared and sent 3.5 lakh rakhis to soldiers guarding the borders. According to a press release from the Gujarat CMO, these rakhis symbolise the sacred sibling bond and serve as a heartfelt tribute to the brave personnel serving far from their families.

In Gandhinagar, a “Raksha Sutra Kalash” was presented to the armed forces in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The initiative earned Gujarat a place in the India Book of Records, with representatives of the organisation presenting an official certificate and medal to the Chief Minister in recognition of the effort.
