5 SPS Officers Promoted to IPS

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has granted notional appointment to five State Police Service (SPS) officers of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre into the Indian Police Service (IPS), along with all service-related benefits.

“In compliance with the directions of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jammu Bench, issued on April 1, 2025, five officers have been notionally appointed to the IPS of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre with all service-related benefits,” the MHA order stated.
The officers appointed are Sunil Dutt, Abhay Kumar Mahajan, Rupender Kumar Chalotra, Rajnish Pran, and Ashok Kumar Sharma.
Dutt, Mahajan, and Chalotra have been appointed against the Select List of 2010, allotted Position Nos. 2, 4, and 6, respectively, while Pran and Sharma have been placed in the 2011 and 2012 Select Lists, with Position Nos. 3 and 1, respectively.
All five officers have since retired from service. (Agencies)
