Srinagar:
Ten Army personnel were killed and ten others injured after their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Thursday.

Officials said the bulletproof Army vehicle, a Casspir, was heading for an operational duty when it veered off the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road at Khanni Top and fell into a deep gorge.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives. “We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” he said in a post on X.

He added that in this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the grieving families in solidarity and support. The injured soldiers have been airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

The Lieutenant Governor also said he has directed senior officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured personnel.(Agencies)
