Baramulla, September 16, 2026: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma held a public outreach camp at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla, on Wednesday, interacting with residents and representatives from Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts.
The programme was organised as part of the BJP legislative group’s pre-session public outreach initiative ahead of the upcoming Assembly session.
J&K BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan, All Cells Co-Incharge and Baramulla Prabhari Bilal Parray, and other senior party leaders accompanied Sharma during the interaction.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said the BJP legislative group would visit district headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir before the Assembly session to directly hear the concerns and grievances of people.
He said issues raised during the Baramulla outreach would be taken up at the appropriate level and in the Assembly.
“Before the Assembly session, we will visit every district headquarters, listen to the problems of the people and ensure that their genuine concerns are raised in the appropriate forum,” Sharma said.
During the interaction, people raised several issues concerning roads, bridges, water supply, electricity charges, tourism, employment, outsourced workers, NHM employees, Anganwadi workers and municipal elections.
Sharma also highlighted employment-related concerns faced by unemployed youth and workers, saying such issues require government attention and intervention.
On local governance, he stressed the need to strengthen grassroots democratic institutions and address civic infrastructure issues effectively.
“The people have brought very basic issues before us. Some have concerns regarding roads and bridges, some regarding water supply, while others have raised tourism and other civic issues,” Sharma said.
Sharma reiterated that the BJP, as the principal opposition party, would raise public concerns in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and continue its outreach programme across the Union Territory.
He said the initiative was aimed at ensuring greater direct engagement between elected representatives and the public and bringing people’s grievances into the legislative process.
