An 18-year-old NEET aspirant, identified as Sushil Dhage, allegedly died by suicide after recording a video message for his mother, saying “Sorry, Mom” before taking the extreme step.

Police said the student had recently appeared in the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination held on June 21. The earlier exam conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak, leading to a retest.

In a 33-second video recorded before his death, the student expressed emotional distress and apologized to his mother, asking for forgiveness and saying he was unable to cope with the pressure. He later sent the video to his family before reportedly jumping into a well.

Family members told police that he had been struggling with stress related to the exam and had found the re-test difficult.

The case has once again raised concerns about academic pressure and mental health challenges faced by competitive exam aspirants in India.
