Bhaderwah February 13, 2026: The Social Welfare Department organised a one-day Recreational-cum-Outing Programme for senior citizens of Sub-Division Bhaderwah at scenic Khellani Top, under the Senior Citizens Welfare Initiative. The programme was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Doda and supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah and District Social Welfare Officer Doda, and was coordinated by TSWO Bhaderwah, Sh. Shahnawaz Ahmad.
The event was flagged off from Domail Bhaderwah by the DDC Chairperson and the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah. Nearly 150 senior citizens participated in the outing, aimed at promoting active and healthy ageing, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
Various recreational activities including Chess, Carrom and Cricket were organised, along with a health check-up camp where BP and blood sugar tests were conducted. The AYUSH Department also held a yoga session, with more than 70 senior citizens, including a significant number of women, taking part.
The programme featured musical performances by local artists, with participants enjoying traditional Bhaderwahi and Kashmiri tunes. TSWO Bhaderwah also sensitised attendees about welfare schemes and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
Highlighting a positive trend, the TSWO noted that over 70 percent participation in the programme was from elderly women, reflecting increased confidence and involvement. He thanked the Sub-Divisional Administration, Tourism, Health, AYUSH, Youth Services & Sports, Information and Police Departments for their support in making the event a success.
