Security Tightened in Jammu’s RS Pura Sector After Foiled Infiltration Bid

JAMMU — Security has been intensified in the Ranbir Singh Pura sector of Jammu following a foiled infiltration attempt along the International Border (IB). The Border Security Force (BSF) neutralised an intruder who attempted to cross into Indian territory during the intervening night of April 4 and 5.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of BSF Jammu, the alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the IB and observed an individual attempting to cross over. Despite being challenged by the BSF personnel, the intruder ignored repeated warnings and continued moving forward, prompting the forces to open fire and neutralise the threat.

“The identity and motive of the intruder are being verified,” the PRO BSF said in a statement, adding that a flag meeting has been sought to register a formal protest with the counterpart authorities over the infiltration attempt.

The BSF reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict vigil along the border and thwarting any attempts to breach Indian territory.

In a separate incident earlier this week, BSF troops stationed in Punjab’s Amritsar district apprehended another intruder near the village of Bharopal. The individual, a Pakistani national, was caught attempting to cross into Indian territory near the border fence. He was challenged and taken into custody for further questioning.

These incidents come amid heightened alertness along the border as forces continue to counter persistent infiltration threats.
