Satish Sharma on Tuesday urged the youth to become torchbearers of discipline, integrity and national pride while addressing the annual day celebration of BSF Senior Secondary School in Jammu.
Addressing students, teachers, parents and BSF personnel during the event, the Minister described the occasion as a moment of pride and inspiration and praised the institution for nurturing young minds in an environment shaped by the courage, sacrifice and service of the Border Security Force.
Highlighting the important role of youth in nation-building, Satish Sharma said the true strength of the country lies in the character and values of its younger generation. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from BSF personnel who safeguard the nation under challenging circumstances.
The Minister also raised concern over the growing menace of drug abuse and termed it one of the most serious threats confronting society today. He said the government is committed to tackling the issue through strict enforcement, rehabilitation measures and public awareness campaigns.

Calling upon students to act responsibly, Sharma urged them to stay away from substance abuse and make informed choices in life.
“Real strength lies in refusal,” he said, while encouraging the youth to resist peer pressure and reject any path that could compromise their future.
He stressed that addiction weakens both individuals and society and prevents young people from contributing meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
Speaking on nationalism, the Minister said patriotism goes beyond slogans and is reflected through honesty, hard work, environmental responsibility and respect for others in everyday life.
He also spoke about the importance of balancing national pride with global citizenship, stating that responsible and aware youth can contribute positively both to the country and the wider world.
Highlighting the government’s focus on youth empowerment, sports and technological advancement, Satish Sharma said several initiatives are being undertaken to expand opportunities in innovation, digital empowerment and sports development for young people across the region.
The Minister congratulated the school administration, faculty members and students for successfully organizing the annual day celebration and appreciated the award-winning students for their achievements. He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and contributing positively to society.
