A retired IAS officer, Rakesh Agrawal, was found dead with his throat allegedly slit at his residence behind Panghat Colony in Suraj Nagar, Ratibad, Bhopal, early Wednesday morning, triggering a police investigation.
According to preliminary reports, Agrawal and his wife were sleeping in separate rooms. His wife reportedly found the door of her room latched from outside and alerted another caretaker. When the rooms were opened, Agrawal was found dead inside his bedroom.
Police are investigating the disappearance of a caretaker-cum-male nurse, identified in reports as Varun Kumar, who had reportedly been hired through an agency only a few days before the incident. He is currently untraceable, and investigators are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area, forensic evidence and other leads to establish what happened.
The police have not yet established the caretaker’s involvement or the exact motive. Investigators are continuing to piece together the sequence of events and trace the missing caretaker.
