Restoration of Qilla Reservoir Set to Strengthen Drinking Water Supply in Bhaderwah

Upgraded reservoir project expected to improve water storage and supply in Zone-2 and Zone-3

Bhaderwah, May 08: In a major boost to drinking water infrastructure in Bhaderwah town, the Qilla Bhaderwah reservoir has been restored under the supervision of ADC Sunil Kumar Bhutyal.

The restoration work has been carried out as per the Detailed Project Report prepared for improvement of the overall water supply scheme of Bhaderwah Town Zone-2 and Zone-3.

The total cost of the project stands at ₹132.10 lakh, of which ₹96.97 lakh has been allotted under the UT Capex budget.

The project included demolition of the old reservoir structure and construction of a new 50,000-gallon Ground Service Reservoir (GSR) at the site to enhance water storage capacity and strengthen the supply system.

Officials informed that work on the reservoir started on December 15, 2025 and was completed on April 28, 2026. Around 75 percent of the overall project has been completed so far, while remaining works are still in progress.

The restoration and upgradation of the reservoir is expected to significantly improve drinking water supply and storage facilities for residents of Bhaderwah town, especially in Zone-2 and Zone-3 areas.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public utility infrastructure and ensure improved basic services for the people.
