Russian President Vladimir Putin told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Moscow is ready to assist in finding a diplomatic resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue, Russian state news agency TASS reported on Monday.

According to the Kremlin, the offer was made during a phone call between the two leaders amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

“In light of the recent escalation in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, Russia has expressed its readiness to assist in every possible way to facilitate a diplomatic solution concerning Iran’s nuclear program,” the Kremlin press service said, as quoted by TASS.

The conversation comes just weeks after a brief military conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States in June, which sparked global concerns over regional stability.

Israel has consistently opposed Iran’s nuclear ambitions, even when Tehran claims the program is for civilian purposes. Israeli authorities fear that the technology could be diverted toward developing nuclear weapons — a concern echoed by the United States.

On June 13, Israel launched a military operation targeting Iranian assets. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes, and nine days later, the United States reportedly carried out airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, according to TASS.

A ceasefire agreement was reached by June 24, but regional tensions remain elevated.

The Kremlin reiterated its stance in favor of diplomacy, emphasizing that dialogue is the only viable path toward resolving the ongoing dispute over Iran’s nuclear program. (Agencies)
