Nirmala Sitharaman: PM Modi’s Visionary Leadership Driving India’s Progress

San Francisco, Apr 22: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during an interaction with the Indian diaspora in San Francisco, stating that his “visionary leadership” and the consistency of his government are significantly contributing to India’s progress.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s focus on good governance and development, Sitharaman said, “The leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continued governance that brings a sense of stability are truly making a difference for India. From technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development to renewable energy commitments, he has been delivering results within set timelines.”

Her remarks came during her official five-day visit to the United States, which commenced on April 20. She was received at San Francisco International Airport by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Consul General Srikar Reddy Koppula, and Finance Secretary Ajay Seth.

During her two-day stay in San Francisco, Sitharaman will deliver a keynote address at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution on “Laying the Foundations of Viksit Bharat 2047,” followed by a fireside chat. She will also engage with fund management firms and meet top executives from major IT firms based in the region.

From April 22 to 25, the finance minister will participate in the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, DC. Her schedule includes the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, the Development Committee Plenary, the IMF/World Bank IMFC Plenary, and the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable.

She is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with her counterparts from countries like the US, UK, France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, as well as with senior officials from global financial institutions. Post her US visit, Sitharaman will head to Peru for her first official trip there from April 26 to 30.
