New Delhi, October 2, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary on Friday, recalling the enduring relevance of the Mahatma’s thoughts and his emphasis on values that continue to inspire people across the world.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Modi highlighted Gandhi’s emphasis on Swadeshi, particularly the importance of Khadi. He urged citizens to purchase at least one Khadi product on October 2 and take pride in choosing locally made products.
In his message, the Prime Minister said that Gandhi’s thoughts remain relevant when connected with humanity and expressed hope that Bapu’s timeless message would continue to guide society towards a better future and a Viksit Bharat.
Gandhi Jayanti is observed every year on October 2 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The day also coincides with the International Day of Non-Violence, reflecting Gandhi’s global association with the principles of peace and non-violence.
The occasion saw tributes from leaders and dignitaries across the country, with Gandhi’s legacy of truth, non-violence, service and social harmony being remembered.
