PM Modi Meets Dubai Crown Prince; Both Leaders Reaffirm Deep India-UAE Ties and Future Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met with the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in New Delhi, reaffirming the strong and enduring ties between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The two leaders discussed avenues to further enhance cooperation across various sectors, reflecting a shared vision for a future of innovation, opportunity, and prosperity.
The Crown Prince, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, is on a two-day official visit to India—his first in the role. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, and prominent business leaders.
“Glad to meet HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. Dubai has played a key role in advancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This special visit reaffirms our deep-rooted friendship and paves the way for even stronger collaboration in the future,” PM Modi posted on social media platform X following the meeting.
The visiting leader echoed similar sentiments, stating: “Our conversations reaffirmed the strength of UAE-India ties, which is built on trust, shaped by history, and driven by a shared vision to create a future full of opportunity, innovation, and lasting prosperity.”
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hamdan was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour and welcomed at the airport by Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi.
PM Modi hosted a working lunch in honour of the Crown Prince, offering a platform to explore greater bilateral collaboration, especially in areas like trade, energy, infrastructure, fintech, and sustainability.
The Crown Prince is also scheduled to visit Mumbai, where he will participate in a business roundtable with leading Indian and Emirati business figures. The discussions are expected to further solidify commercial partnerships and identify new investment opportunities.
Dubai continues to serve as a major hub in India-UAE cultural and economic relations, buoyed by the presence of an estimated 4.3 million-strong Indian diaspora in the UAE, most of whom reside in Dubai. Since the establishment of formal diplomatic ties in 1972, and notably after PM Modi’s landmark 2015 visit to the Emirates, the bilateral relationship has expanded significantly across strategic and economic domains.
