Pakistani Nationals Continue to Exit India via Attari, Appeal for Leniency After Visa Revocations
Pakistani citizens are continuing to leave India through the Attari border following the Indian government’s decision to revoke visas of all Pakistani nationals currently in the country, in the wake of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists.
Those departing have appealed to the Indian government for compassion, saying they are being unfairly affected due to the actions of terrorists.
One such individual, Mufzala from Muzaffarabad, who has been married in Baramulla for six years and has two children born in India, expressed her distress over being asked to leave despite living in the country legally on a long-term visa.
“This was a terrorist attack, and those responsible should be punished. But why are people like us, who have nothing to do with it, being forced to suffer?” she asked. “We’ve been applying for visa extensions for three years without success. Now, we are told to leave the country overnight.”
Another Pakistani visitor shared that he had entered India on a 45-day visa but was being asked to leave after only a week. “I came to visit my relatives. What happened in Pahalgam was wrong, but sending us back like this feels unjust,” he said.
The Pahalgam terror attack stands as one of the deadliest in Jammu and Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which killed 40 CRPF personnel. The Indian government, responding with stringent diplomatic and security measures, has cited national security concerns in the mass visa revocations.
