Responding to a question raised by MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone, the Minister in-charge said that 4,50,797 beneficiaries in the Kashmir Division are receiving monthly aid under the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), along with 64,881 beneficiaries covered under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). In the Jammu Division, 3,61,182 beneficiaries are availing financial assistance under the same schemes.

The Minister also clarified that the pension disbursement is being done regularly and as per the guidelines of the respective schemes, refuting claims of any widespread delay.

However, addressing another query, the Minister acknowledged delays in the disbursement of marriage assistance, stating that in cases where departmental funds are not readily available, the payments may be processed post-marriage.

“In instances where departmental funds are not available, payments may be delayed until after the marriage, but only for applicants who applied at least one month prior to their wedding date,” the Minister stated.

The government’s response highlights the continued implementation of social welfare initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir, despite logistical challenges in certain areas.
